Merz Insurance Services, formerly The Merz Agency, is a brokerage agency based in the Pacific Northwest. Established in 1958 by Robert F. Merz as an impaired risk underwriting firm, we have evolved into a full service independent brokerage agency offering life, disability, Long Term Care and annuity products to our advisor community. As a member of LIBRA Insurance Partners, Merz Insurance Services and our 60+ partner firms represent the premier brokerage life insurance companies in America.

Over the past 60 years, we’ve expanded from providing service and support to insurance and financial professionals throughout the Northwest to servicing advisors across the nation with offices in Portland, Bellevue/Seattle, Salt Lake City and Des Moines. With over 200 years of combined industry experience, our staff has the expertise to manage your complex underwriting and sophisticated planning cases.

Our philosophy is based on the values of our founder. We respect our brokers and their clients. We treat them the same way we want to be treated. We listen to their needs and present solutions to meet their unique objectives. Our mission is to provide competitive and innovative products in meeting our advisors client’s financial planning objectives within a delivery program that offers a high level of concierge services.

In April 2023, Merz Insurance Services was acquired by Gallagher, one of the world’s largest and most respected consulting and risk management companies. We continue to operate as an independent branch office with the same leadership, management, staff, and culture associated with Merz Insurance Services. This change has provided us with a greater opportunity to back our services with better tools and resources than ever before. We’ve added more industry-leading knowledge and capabilities to our brokerage services through this relationship.
